We are a ceramics and pottery studio located in Tacoma, WA. The studio was founded in March 2025 by April Stout and Lucy Nilan, both Washington transplants and avid lovers of clay. The two of us met on a “blind date” set up by our friend and local potter/sculptor Heather Cornelius.

We are a ceramics teaching studio that also offers drop-in hours, firing services, and tiered memberships.

Spaces are available with 24-hour access for private rental members.

Classes are available for all ages and skill levels.

Private lessons, events, and one-time experiences can be booked when available.

Our resident artists, members, students, and the community are important to us. Our goal is to help foster creativity and togetherness in a relaxed and supportive community.

Do you have a stressful job and clay is your way to decompress or relax? We love that! We want to enjoy that with you.

Do you have a passion for clay and want to turn it into a hobby, side hustle, work with galleries, or make it a full-time career? Join us so we can be that little spark beside you, encouraging you.

This is a space where all people can come together and create beautiful objects out of clay regardless of their goals.

Welcome to Tacoma Clay!
